Gowda Attacks Cong High Command for Not Checking Karnataka Mess

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 22: With the BJP government headed by Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa pulling out all steps to improve its majority in the state assembly by resorting to ''Operation Kamala" and persuading Congress and JD(S) to resign by offering money and promises of positions of power, JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda trained guns on Congress high command for its failure to act against ruling BJP’s ''unscrupulous efforts to decimate the secular parties."

"How long will the Congress leadership in New Delhi keep its eyes closed to the disgusting developments in Karnataka?," Gowda asked referring to the unabated defection of MLAs from Opposition Congress and JD (S) to the BJP under the 'renewed Operation Lotus.'

The former prime minister accused the ruling BJP of ''purchasing" Opposition MLAs with their ''ill-gotten wealth" to cling to power.

Meanwhile, Gowda’s son and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, who is also the state JD(S) president, met Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj along with the JD(S) MLA Srinivas, who was allegedly offered a bribe with figures of money ranging from Rs 100 crore to Rs 50 crore and finally to Rs 25 crore and a cabinet berth, for resigning his seat and helping BJP.

The JD(S), which had recorded the entire discussion and produced an audio-visual CD and publicly aired it at a news conference on Thursday evening, presented the CD to the Governor as evidence of the unethical and undemocratic ''Operation Lotus."

The JD(S) supremo, who addressed a news conference on Friday, did not expressly seek imposition of President’s rule in the State but was highly critical of Governor Bhardwaj’s decision to ask Chief Minister Yeddyurappa to prove his majority on the floor of the house for a second time after he had recommended the dismissal of the BJP Government.

Gowda also recalled that he, as a Prime Minister heading a thirteen party coalition Government, had dismissed the then Gujarat Government when ''similar" ruckus took place in the Legislative Assembly.

The JD (S) leader criticised Speaker K G Bopaiah for allowing police officials to enter the Assembly hall. ''Never in the history of the Assembly were the police allowed to enter the Assembly", he said and held the Speaker responsible for the ''bleeding" injuries suffered by some MLAs due to the ''excesses" of the police.

The Speaker, who is expected to discharge his duties in an impartial manner, held a meeting with Chief Minister and City Police Commissioner a day before the October 11 trust vote, Gowda said.

The Chief Minister, according to Deve Gowda, had ''thrown decency to the winds for saving his chair" and questioned the attitude of the BJP national leaders and RSS leadership for ''silently watching the dirty political events and daylight murder of all democratic values of decency and morality."

''The chief minister has stooped to the lowest level to remain in office and indulged in poaching opposition MLAs through Operation Lotus which is highly unethical and unconstitutional," he said.

''The central Congress leaders seem to be seeing the state BJP unit as "Congress B team", he said.

Incidentally, the state unit of JD(U), which is an ally of BJP-led NDA at the national level and in Bihar, has urged President Pratibha Patil to immediately place the Legislative Assembly in suspended animation and impose President’s Rule ''until the judiciary gives its final ruling on the ongoing unethical power tussle among the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress and JD(S)."

State JD(U) President Dr M P Nadagouda said political activities in which all the three parties were involved had led to auctioning the commanding status of the State in the ideological politics in the country.

Commenting on the silence of the authorities concerned in the department Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate and others though huge money is reportedly exchanging hands in the power game, Dr Nadagouda said that it is time for the nation to save democracy from ''ugly politicking manipulations such as Operation Lotus by bringing in comprehensive and drastic amendments to relevant rules and protect the exchequer from being misused."

While the ruling BJP is struggling to protect its power, the opposition Congress and JD(S) were keen on establishing its administration in a ''despicable manner,’’ Dr Nadagouda said and the people and parties like JD(U)  were nauseated by the political developments in the State.

The JD(U) is not in favour of dismissal of the elected body. The State unit in consultation with the party’s national leaders would draw the attention of the President towards the issues involved in detail shortly, he added.

She acknowledges help rendered by kumaranna to them during difficult perioud by providing a party ticket and promises thiss mla(her husband) will never come to pressure & quit the party but still says pressure is continuing by BJP.This is terrible,Disgusting, unblievable

Democratically elected government should not misuse people,s trust.Present situation in Karnataka politics is very appalling and vulnerable to public life and soon it may create a revolutionary atmosphere. Personally I am staunch supporter of secular Values.Because we are servants of God and donot worship any fanatics. I respect Great secular leaders whom I know and are in Congress,JDS & BJP. Mr. Deve Gowda's comments on congress high command is truly correct and and it is sad that congress has not taken any moral responsibilty towards people of karnataka and watching the Drama viciously.Previous leaders in karnataka have sacrificed the Chair and bowed out for the sake of people. I am not very much surprised sooner or later the Brave Kannadigas decide the fate of the Ballot. I am asking my brethern to prounce a firm verdict for our sacred land karnataka. Long live Hounourable Mr. Deve Gowda and family.

What gowda says is correct.Cong is playing Italian hide and seek game & not a straight game. Though Karnataka cong leaders were somewhat supported jd(s) & with them during recent time of worst hit crisis but Congress high command has never drawn a conclusion and still watching. They want JD(S) to be in forefront and then take a credit at a latter stage on the efforts of jd(s).This must not be the case.During this worst time of democracy in danger Cong high command must take a clear strategy and combine with JD(S) to fight against this sorry case government of karnataka.Governor rule or pres rule is not a solution as this will benefit miserable BJP govermt.Congress must not forget jd(S) is part of central Govt congress.Cong can not isolate JD(S) & potray a wrong picture of JD(S). Cong can not pretend as if they are a
most sacred party.Cong should not forget they had taken support most corrupt Bihar leader to form theirfirst govt & latter dumped them in dust bin in the 2nd tenure of power.I strong recommend congress to take a cleare stand against eddy.

In this drama there was no synchronization between JDS & Cong. JDS expected the moment they pulled Yeddy'd legs by taking 15 MLAs, the Cong (Centre) takes steps to remove the Govt. That did not happen. Thanks to Governor (though cong man but not loyal) for giving 2nd chance to Yeddy. Also now the related matter is in Court, everything has become like messed up thread. My suggestion is JDS & Cong should keep their MLAs in a resort far from blore (until the court verdict) inorder to avoid "Operation kamala". This also can help them to draw a proper strategy to follow after court verdict looking at the various possiblities (#s)in case the verdict goes favourable or unfavourable. I heard that this serial is having now highest trp rating among all the serials.

First of all these father and son should be thrown out of the world. Then only the people of karnataka can live peacefully. These are the ones who are creating uncertainties with only 20 odd seats in the hand. We the people of the state should think before the next election and vote wisely to get a clear majority for a single party.
If any single party doesnt get a clear majority, then only the dramatists like Devegauda and kumarswaamy will start playing their cheap games.

Gowda is a "CROOK",never fall prey to his misleading statements. He has failed in his attempt of sabotage & now final resort is to surrender to Congress for using their central power. But congress though are in power in central are showing their restraint in analising the developments ,there by restricting their party men from doing any hasty things.Gowda is going mad ,even he is loosing the faith of his own men & they are deliberately trying for a place in the government. Most of them are by now approaching the BJP for survival.
