Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 5: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, October 5 reported 55 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 19 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 19,07,744 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,85,475 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,664 out of which 785 are currently active.
As many as 78 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,667.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,97,370 as fine in 88,046 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,48,224 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 19 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 76,403 out of which 83 are currently active.
A total of 19 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
Out of 19 new patients, 12 are in home isolation while 7 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 19 cases, 11 cases are symptomatic and 8 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 16 new cases, Kundapur registered 2 and Karkala 1.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,00,726 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,17,725 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
