Mangalore, Oct 23:
Under instructions from Mahendra Joshi, chief organiser of All India Congress Sevadal, and as per the directions of Bheem Shanker V H, chief organiser of state Sevadal and member, AICC, Haji H M Ashraf formally took charge as the chief organiser of Sevadal for Dakshina Kannada district.

The programme was held at the district Congress office, Hampanakatta here on Saturday October 23.

Speaking on the occasion, Ivan D’Souza said that Sevadal members are known for their discipline and responsibilities. The recent setback that the Congress party suffered in the state can be overcome as it has a strong team of field workers, that is, the Sevadal members, he added.

Sadananda Poonja, ex-president of the Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, said that young Ashraf has every quality to become a leader. However, he expressed his grief that some leaders in the Congress are not working for the welfare of the party but for their own benefit. He also said that Sevadal unit is literally thrown into the corner by the party which is neglecting its importance.

M G Hegde, spokesperson of DK district Congress said that a leader should have minimum expectation and make maximum contribution to the party. He agreed upon the fact that workers of Sevadal have not been prioritized and added that members of Sevadal need to be considered for some of the posts in the party in future.

Vrinda Poojary took in charge as the president of the women’s unit. The members of the Sevadal and the Congress party garlanded the portrait of Narayan Subbarao Hardikar, founder of Sevadal unit.

M G Hegde, Sujatha Ullal, Raja Poojary, Vishwanath H, Sadashiva Ullal and Sevadal chief convener Bhimashankar among others were present.

Once Mangalore/DK was bastion of Congress party. There are good and selfless leaders still there, inspite of so much polution in political field here. The selection of candidates for various posts from time to time over few years is the reason for evasiion of followers for the party here.If the selection is done at looking caste, religion ignoring majority masses, the position will worsen further helping opponents. It is high time the high command understand this sensitive issue.

Problem with these Congress leaders is that they just give the position only to those people who are having money.

This man is neither having any training in Sevadal and how can he organise Sevadal?

Congress Sevadal is the only organisation in Congress which believes in social service and discipline and I have my own doubts if this man can deliver.

However good luck to you Mr. Ashraf
