Udupi, Oct 8: "By the grace of God, Covid positive cases are declining in the state," said Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education minister B C Nagesh.
He said, “The positivity rate is zero in several districts. The experts have said that schools can be reopened. Schools will reopen after Dasara. In this regard, the chief minister will call a task force committee meeting in Bengaluru. Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has shown interest in re-opening the school sooner.
“Soon after Dasara festival, midday meals will be started in schools. The officers in concerned districts will make the necessary arrangements.
“On the advice of the technical committee, school will be started. We have not made attending schools compulsory for now. Even in the future, we will not make it compulsory. Both online and offline classes will be held. The attendance of students at present attending schools is satisfactory. A few students in the rural area are facing problems attending online classes,” he said.
The high school students’ attendance in rural areas schools is about 90%, he added.
