Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 8: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, October 8 reported 39 new coronavirus cases and Udupi registered 23 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 19,33,572 samples have been tested so far, out of which 18,18,783 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,789 out of which 575 are currently active.
As many as 112 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,668.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,03,170 as fine in 88,104 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,58,398 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 23 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 76,460 out of which 76 are currently active.
A total of 14 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 23 new patients, 18 are in home isolation while 5 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 23 cases, 14 cases are symptomatic and 9 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 17 new cases, Kundapur registered 3 and Karkala 2 and 1 was from out of the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,03,275 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,27,666 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
