Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 9: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, October 9 reported 27 new coronavirus cases, while Udupi registered 21 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 19,42,073 samples have been tested so far, out of which 18,27,257 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,816 out of which 529 are currently active.
As many as 73 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,669.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,04,870 as fine in 88,121 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,61,537 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 21 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 76,481 out of which 84 are currently active.
A total of 13 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 21 new patients, 16 are in home isolation while 5 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 21 cases, 16 cases are symptomatic and 5 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 11 new cases, Kundapur registered 5 and Karkala 4 and one case was from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,03,399 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,28,509 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
