Dismiss Karnataka Government: Deve Gowda

New Delhi, Oct 25 (IANS): Former prime minister and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) leader H.D. Deve Gowda Monday urged the central government to "dismiss" the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka and end the "poaching" of Congress and JD-S legislators.

"There is no rule of law in Karnataka. The Yeddyurappa government is using all illegal ways including money, muscle and mining power to demolish the opposition parties and retain rule in the state. I demand
the dismissal of the Karnataka government instead of allowing the secular parties to sink," Deve Gowda told reporters here.

Deve Gowda warned that "Karnataka will be another Gujarat", if the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government failed to act.

"The issue before us is that the MLAs have been tortured and poached in Karnataka," the former prime minister said, adding that the BJP had launched "operation lotus" to poach legislators through horse trading.

Two Congress legislators and one JD-S lawmaker have resigned so far. The BJP is trying to save its first government in the state after 11 party legislators and five Independent lawmakers expressed lack of
confidence in Yeddyurappa Oct 6.

The 16 were disqualified and their appeal is now pending in the high court. The rebellion by 11 BJP legislators has reduced the party's strength to 106 in the 225-member house that includes one nominated member.

If the disqualification of the 16 is upheld by the court, the effective strength of the house will come down to 209 till by-polls are held to fill these vacancies.

Deve Gowda said this year's Diwali would be the "darkest Diwali" for the people of Karnataka and reiterated that the central government act against the Yeddyurappa government for ensuring smooth functioning of parliament.

Deve Gowda also criticised the Reddy brothers' role in the illegal mining in the state. State Tourism Minister G. Janardhana Reddy and his elder brother and Revenue Minister G. Karunakara Reddy are rich
iron ore mine owners.

"I wish to raise the illegal mining issue during the winter session of parliament," Deve Gowda said.

Mr.Gowda, we will be the happiest of people if any party can turn it into a Gujrath, which has seen no political problems, seen definet results of the developmental programmes, given people the best of everything in terms of stability, status, job security ,job opportunities and above all of them a peacefull life. There is no communal riots,no strikes,no dirty politics of trying to topple the elected Government. We beleive one must pray that present day Gujarath must be imitated by all states. One must thank Mr.Modi for the transition taken place in recent past. For a change please try contributing from your end ,the money you & your family has looted from Karnataka is good enough for another 5 of your generations.

As to convert Karnataka into Gujarat the entire BJP unit has to win the hearts of karnataka people and give up all corrupt activities which has already tarnished the image of the Government. It is quite natural for the opposition party to say 'Do or Die'. Awaiting for a transparent and development oriented government in Karnataka.

It is time to play with grandchildrens instead of spoiling the peace and development of Karnataka. Devegowda & family is one of the most corrupt, selfish & goonda family of indian history. Shame on us, still people believes him and his ideologies. He and his son's have not done anything other than looting all government funds and lands. Now he cannot tolerate developments in Gujarath.

I think many of educated coastal people who live in UAE & USA seems to be frustrated and spreading hatredness . Hatredness has no end. We lead a respaectful life in & around Bangalore .we never come across this type of cheap mentality based on caste, religion.
In Mangalore these differences are grown because of business rivalry between some trading people of coastal area. Atleast if you have any sense please give up your jobs ,throw the money earned from other religion countries into arabean sea , do some justification in supporting a party of traders .because of people like u no one leader is emerging from coastal .but soon naxal may overtake.

Chidananda, YOu are talking like as though you have helped Gowda and his family to reach political heights in the state. FYI, JDS or Janata party has never won from Mangalore assembly. The people of Dakshina kannada (not all) have not voted for JDS. SO it makes sense if the people of other parts of karnataka say that they have tolerated him. Peopel of DK and udipi have to just shut up and have to tolerate him.

So If oppsition sits quietly people watch the Govt. or otherwise the days are nearer as you rightly said about good work done by BJP point. People view differently and it is very clear by the last verdict by people of state to complete full term.
