Mangalore, Oct 26: The members of United Christian's Association (UCA) under the leadership of president Alban Menezes held a rasta roko at the Kulshekar-Kaikamba junction here on Tuesday October 26 from 9.45 am protesting the bad condition of road from Vamanjoor to Nantoor.

The protestors lamented that despite several memorandums to the district administration, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and other authorities concerned in this regard, none have heeded to the request. They demanded to take up the repairs of the stretch with immediate effect.

Alwyn Pais, office-bearer, UCA said that the organization's plea to the deputy commissioner, MCC and  National Highway Authorities among others have not yielded any result. The Vamanjoor-Nantoor stretch has been highly unmotorable with several potholes. The vehicle plyers are having a terrible experience commuting the stretch, he said.

UCA office-bearers Jeevan Vas, Marceline, Joe Rego, Vincent D'Cunha and Ignatius among others were present.

Authorities Concerned Respond

Pais informed that in response to the rasta roko held by UCA, the authorities concerned have taken up repairs of the stretch from 11.00 am onwards.

Mr Madhava, I am not supporting any parties... Just commented to know you that couple of people were commenting like the road work should be taken up by Karnataka Govt. Thats the reason y I had commented... I feel good that people from kulshekad did their best. Really thats appreciable. And All Political parties in india are one and the same. Infront of us fighting like anything and behind the screens they are one & the same.

It seems like Mr. Neeraj has great dissappointment in Mr. Oscar Fernandes. The Mangalore Udupi Highway is in the similar state for over so many years now. It was same in the reign of BJP Congress UPA and all other coalition governments. It is not necessary to be an educated person to know whose responsiblity it is. There were protests over its state every year. Mr Neeraj Please enlighten us to how and who will bell the cat?

Mr Madhav Nayak... You may be aware that the Vamanjoor Route is National Highway... and for a literated person i hope I should nt need to tell that the work of National Highway should be taken up by Central Govt. What Mr. Oscar Fernades from Udupi is doing... Leave about Roads of Mangalore.. Consider Mangalore Udupi road only... How is it... Great Oscar.. He does know only to go for Function and dont bother about Roads or the Civilian.

Good ! that your voice is heard. Hope the same happens tomorrow also. These ministers travel in flights and helicopters.. they are least bothered about the common people. They fight only for ministerial seats, never for the cause of people... ! Sad to know... people are not given what is rightfully theirs, they have to fight for it ... should we pay taxes to suffer ?

Thank you, Alban & Jeevan, all other office bearers & all local supporters. I really appreciate your leadership towards this cause. I have never seen the state of our road from kulshekar to Nanthoor so much worse as I have seen it this year, I have been ever so worried each time I travelled via Kulshekar & today I feel really happy & proud of everyone fought for this cause. This was the urgent essential job needed doing to make our living easy & it is getting done finally. Well done!!

Only communal protest will draw much response otherwise our people are lethargic like the current state government which is busy at home making business. Otherwise like a guy in the column soon he will appear without invitee as he hear RSS and VHP and calls others pseudo. (You know who is he)Guest

Any way my sincere thanks to UCA.
You done a very good job guys.
Repairing roads are not enough they should construct new road like what they did in other part of the city.
Keep some stones beside , we can use when these dirty politicians and corrupt officials drive thru this road.
Again Jai ho UCA. You need entire residence support.
