India to Protest Pakistan's Ceasefire Violations

Jammu, Oct 28 (IANS) The Indian Army will Thursday register a protest with the Pakistan Army over the recurring ceasefire violations on the Line of Control, an official said.

This would be the second time in the past four days that the Indian Army would lodge protest with the Pakistan Army in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest comes in the wake of Wednesday's firing of rockets, mortars and heavy machine gunfire at Indian posts in the sector by Pakistani troops.

"We will lodge a protest," an army officer told IANS.

"This would be done at a flag meeting in Krishna Ghati sector at the level of local commanders," he added.

Earlier, the Indian Army had lodged a similar protest Monday after an Indian soldier was killed in Pakistani firing Sunday.

The Pakistan Army started firing on the Indian posts around 3.30 p.m. Wednesday. The Indian Army too retaliated. The exchange of gunfire lasted for more than five hours.
