Mangalore: MP Resents Proposed Cancellation of City-Delhi Direct Flight

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Oct 28: Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar, has resented the information that the operation of the direct flight No. 7613 that was operational between the city and New Delhi since the last about three months, will be suspended with effect from November 1 this year.

In a letter dated October 28 to the director (personal) of Indian airlines, Kateel has drawn the official’s attention to the fact that the passengers from the city had earlier been suffering, as their valuable time was lost in taking a detour to Delhi via Mumbai or Bangalore.

“After this flight was begun, the air passengers from here were very much benefitted.  Now I understand that the flight is being cancelled with effect from November 1. There was no information either to the people or the people’s representatives like me about the proposed cancellation, and no reasons have been attributed for this decision. The people, especially the business community, who are regular commuters of this sector, feel that this is an unwarranted decision,” he said in the letter.

He has urged Anup Srivasthav, director (personal), Indian Airlines, to reconsider the above decision and continue to operate the said flight as before, in the interests of the general public.

Its well known now a days that any diversion of Airlines or Trains from Mangalore to any destination is in the hands of Kozhikode authorities. Its high time that Mangaloreans wake-up and start financing to development of Mangalore and compete with them.

I believe Indan (airlines) could have continued the flight via Mumbai instead of cancelling it. There must be something fishy behind this move. What about flight from Kozhikode to Delhi?

Dear Mr. MP, please write a letter asking the concerned to remove AIE fights from gulf to mlore and allow other airlines to operate in this region. The cancelled AIE flghts can be used for mlore -delhi route if u want. U can really have hitech experience with these AIE flights.

Dear Naveen Shetty, you speak about "the passenger load factor" to Nalin Kumar. Better ask him about High School test books and exams. He won't know anything, I bet you. When we have High School-failures as our MP's they expect the Airlines to consult them, and still worst, we consult such MPs for direction our country needs to take. Shame to us that such MPs represent us and guide our nation.

What action does Nalin Kumar would like to propose to allegations "marjorie aranha, kadri mangalore" has made? Neither Airlines nor any business runs on charity basis. May be the MP enjoyed his direct trips. Now let him share the plight of ordinary citizens. After all, he can do nothing unless he can introduce his flight. Neither does the MP need to be informed should someone decide to cancel any flight. He can fool the illiterate.

i m shocked to hear about the experience of marjorie aranha. regarding load factor if there re no pasengers, they can operate with one stop in mumbai, flight will be full in both sectors and those going to delhi need not get off from the plane.

i wish to write abovt my grievances regarding the direct flight from Mangalore to Delhi. I visted delhi on the 7th of Oct. for the common wealth games. i booked the direct flight in september by paying rs.7500. my minor son too wanted to accompany me so a few days later when i wanted one more ticket they said the low fare of rs.75oo was not available so i booked for him in kingfisher via bangalore paying rs.5500. Again on 3rd and 6th oct. i enqired whether seats were available , they said i have o pay rs.10500. so my son and i travelled on different planes to delhi on 7th oct. when i boarded the palne i was shocked to see on ly 11 passengers including me and more than 100 seats were vacant. I told the airhostesses that my son was denied a ticket and he weas flying by king fisher. as soon as i got down at the airport in delhi, i immediately informed the officials there. but they did not seem to care. i feel some underhand mischief is there to stop the services. hence they are denying tickets to genuine passengers. i am prepared to speak about this to any official. they can verify with me.

The protest is only because the MP is affected - they have to make trips to their Delhi HQ often at the Tax Payers cost. Obviously their time and comfort is of paramount importance. For the Last couple of Months the AIE Kuwait - Mangalore - Kozhikode flights have been cancelled / rescheduled / rerouted but no MP has protested. On the other hand the Keralites / thier MP's have raised this issue - unfortunatley to no avail as AIE have a standard reply "Operational Reasons" - Sadly, Bottom line - Self Interest is Supreme Interest.
