Oman: Mangalore Balaga  Elects Richard D'Souza as President

Sohar, Oman Oct 28: Mangalore Balaga -  Sohar, Sultanate of Oman formed around six years ago to have a strong cultural and social bond among the coastal Karnataka expats residing in the Batinah Region had its annual meeting to elect the new office bearers for the year 2011 -2012.  Senior members of the community, entrepreneurs and social activists  Richard Alwyn D’Souza (Bajpe) and Sudhir Kumar (Belthangady) were unanimously elected  as President and Vice President. Prakash Rai (Moodabidri) as Secretary and Krishnaprasad(Bajpe)  as Treasurer were also elected unanimously. A committee of senior members for various activities were also formed.

Richard D’Souza thanked the outgoing  President Narayan Kotiyan and his team for their outstanding support in the past two years.

The Committee decided to have the 6th Anniversary Celebration in the month of November , and in preparation to the same  it was decided to  hold a Cricket Tournament for its members on 29th of October 2010 at Safeer Centre sports ground.

The Mangaloreans (Members of Mangalore Balaga) of Sohar region who are interested in participating in the Cricket tournament  and also to avail more information of the tournament  can contact the following office bearers not later than 25th of October 2010.
