Beltangady, Oct 30:
Culture and moral values are extremely important, and both can be obtained through religion which in turn strengthens the society, said Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Hegde.

He spoke after inaugurating the 15th ‘Jaina Milana’ zonal convention at Amrithavarshini Hall, Dharmasthala here on Saturday Oct 30.

Dr Hegde lamented that culture has been losing its value in the recent times. The basic teachings of all religions are similar though there is difference in some of the rituals and that is termed as ‘culture,’ he said. He also said that religious practices are not meant to be exhibited or shown off in public, but to be inculcated in their essence of divinity in one's heart and mind.

Kanakagiri Kshethra Swasthishree Bhuvanakeerthi Bhattaraka Mahaswamiji in his benedictory speech said that anything can be countered by being united and expressed his wish that good culture may prevail at all times.

Bharathiya Jaina Milana zonal president M S Mruthyunjaya presided over the programme. Former union minister and BJP's special representative at Delhi V Dhananjay Kumar released a book on the occasion. MLA Abhayachandra Jain hoisted the flag.

Bharathiya Jain Milana national president Suresh Jain inaugurated the exhibition. Dr Jivandara Kumar of Theerthahalli was felicitated with title ‘Milanashree’ on the occasion. Hemavathi V Hegde, Prasanna Kumar, working president and Rajashree S Hegde, president of Belthangady Jain Milana among others were present.

Pushparaj Jain delivered the vote of thanks. A grand procession was taken out prior to the convention. People from more then 15 districts took part in the convention.
