Veteran Gerald D’Mello  was re-elected as the new president of Konkani Cultural Organization (K.C.O.) – the Premier Konkani Organization of Abu Dhabi for the second term in succession (2010-2011) during  its Annual  Meeting held on Thursday 28 October 2010 .

Gerald Dmello

Gerald popularly known as ‘Gerry’ is an energetic leader, a singer and composer, sports person – all in all a multi talented personality who  is well known in social circles in Mangalore, Abu Dhabi as well as in the UAE.  He has been the past president of Paradelas in Mangalore and also  the former president of Emirates Paradela in the UAE.  He has been the member of KCO since its formative years and has proved his ability as a good leader.  He has held various posts within the organization.  He has proved himself as a good organizer with his innovative ideas during the past year as the President of KCO, leading from the front.    His experience and resourceful ideas have made KCO to be a name to reckon with.

Frank and Canute

Canute Pinto and Donald Frank D’Silva were also elected as General Secretary and  Treasurer respectively during the same meeting,. Both Canute and Donald are active members of KCO and will be ably supporting Gerry to strengthen KCO.

The other office bearers will be selected by the new executive body and the names will be announced shortly.
KCO has been growing in popularity year after year and has become a household name both in the UAE as well as in India for their benevolent work in helping the needy and deserving students.  They have initiated several scholarships for needy students through Samanvaya of Mangalore and have donated several Lakhs through their charitable work.  They are involved in various social, cultural and religious activities in Abu Dhabi.

K.C.O. successfully organized Gulf Voice of Mangalore II Edition semi finals in Abu Dhabi recently with great success under the leadership of Gerald D’Mello with the support of its enthusiastic members.

The induction of  Gerry D’Mello a veteran with new ideas will surely add new vigor to the vibrant organization and bolster their efforts in working selflessly  towards the society, specially Mangalorean Konkani speaking community in Abu Dhabi
