Bangalore: Seven Members of Ravi Pujari Gang Nabbed

Bangalore: Six Members of Ravi Poojary Gang Arrested

Bangalore, Oct 31 (DHNS): The Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Sunday arrested six of Ravi Poojary’s associates for their alleged involvement in a shoot out at Mantri House - office of Mantri Developers - in September.

The suspects are Ranjit, Dharma, Lakshman, Gunda, Nizam and Shiraz. While Ranjit, Shiraz, Nizam and Gunda were picked up from Udupi, Dharma and Lakshman are the arrested.

Two unidentified persons fired indiscriminately at the Mantri House on Vittal Mallya Road on September 25. The motorcycle-borne duo had fired nearly six rounds of bullets, damaging the company’s name board. They fled after leaving an envelope containing Dubai phone numbers suspected to be that of Ravi Poojary’s.

Encounter

However, the police managed to gun down one of the miscreants identified as Chandru in an encounter near Hormavu after a couple of hours.

According to Alok Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), the suspects have been working for Ravi Poojary for the past three to four years.

Interrogation

“They collect vital information like business activities, family details and telephone numbers of the target and pass it on to Poojary. All the six arrested are involved in the firing incident at Mantri House. They will be interrogated about their activities relating to extortion calls. We are keeping a watch and some more arrests are likely to be made soon,” he said.

All of them have been accused in a number of murder cases, attempt to murder cases and cases pertaining to arms act registered against them in Udupi and Bangalore. With the arrest of these six, the city police have managed to arrest more than 25 Poojary associates over a period one year.
