Dubai, Nov 1: Members of the GSB Konkani community came together again on Friday October 29, for attending the Lakshmi Puja programme organized by the UAE Amchigele Samaj. The community members joined others in praying for the betterment of the community in particular and the society in general, on the occasion.

A beautifully decorated stage greeted those who participated in the programme with great enthusiasm. The ladies were extended an auspicious welcome with the offering of Haldi, Kumkum and flowers.  A temple-like ambience had been created for the occasion. The puja commenced with the lighting of ‘Deepa Stambha,’ followed by the chanting of Lalitha Sahasranama and Vishnu Sahasranama.

Sankalpa Seva and Lakshmi Puja rituals were performed with great devotion. Every participant, irrespective of their ages, joined in the singing of melodious bhajans.  The puja ended with ‘aarti’ and distribution of prasadam.  After seeking blessings from the Almighty, the members partook of a simple yet delicious meal served on the occasion.

The puja programme was organized efficiently by the committee members of the UAE Amchigele Samaj, duly supported in ample measure, by the volunteers.  President of the Samaj, Ramachandra Hegde, announced about the organization of a blood donation camp by the Samaj on November 11 at Al MAS Residence, behind Burjuman Shopping Mall. He also informed that he Samaj’s Annual Day will be held on December 17, 2010, at Renaissance Hotel, Deira, and requested full participation and support from community members.
