Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 23: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, October 23 reported 34 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 12 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 20,45,803 samples have been tested so far, out of which 19,30,551 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,15,252 out of which 282 are currently active.
As many as 37 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Saturday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,678.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,27,770 as fine in 88,348 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,99,507 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 12 new cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 76,651 out of which 65 are currently active.
A total of 9 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday.
Out of 12 new patients, 7 are in home isolation while 5 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 12 cases, 8 cases are symptomatic and 4 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 8 new cases, Kundapur registered 4 cases.
Coronavirus has claimed 476 lives in the district so far.
So far 9,09,042 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,79,486 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
