Udupi, Oct 25: A house in Vadabhandeshwara, Malpe was burgled when the house owner was away. The thieves concerned targeted the house of Jayalakshmi, residing near Vadabhandeshwara temple. She had locked her house on October 16 and was on a visit to the residence of her son at Bengaluru.
During the period of her absence, cash, as well as silver and gold ornaments were stolen. The theft came to light on Saturday October 23.
Malpe police station
The thieves entered the house by breaking open the bolt of the main door. They then broke open the almirah kept in the bedroom and took away silver and gold ornaments worth Rs 7.21 lac. Rs 70,000 in cash was among the items stolen.
On the basis of a complaint filed with them, Malpe police station personnel are investigating.
