The Beary community has its own website now, launched at a programme held in Srinivas College here on Tuesday November 2. The website, www.karnatakabearysahithyaacademy.org will provide information on Beary language and culture as well as on the activities of state Beary Literature Academy.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the website. In his inaugural address he said that this is timely implementation of technology to promote the rich Beary culture worldwide. Beary language has a prosperous historical background similar to Tulu. Culture is the backbone of any language. Hence it is important to retain and promote Beary culture, he added.
 
Speaking about the state government's help towards Beary culture he said that Yeddyurappa’s government has extended the grant from Rs 20 lac to Rs 40 lac, double of what it was for the past 20 years.
 
Prof Dr M Abdul Rehman, retired chancellor of Kannur and Calicut Universities in his presidential address said that the academy is thankful to the state government for showing keen interest towards preserving Beary literature.
 
MLA Yogish Bhat and MLA U T Khadar were the chief guests. B Chandrahas Rai of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy welcomed the gathering. M B Abdul Rehman, president of Karnataka Sahitya Academy delivered the key note address. Hamza Malar conducted the programme. Dr Sushila Upadhyaya, member of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy delivered the vote of thanks.
