Mangalore: AIMIT Felicitates Student Achievers

Mangalore, Nov 4: The students if MCA, MS (software Technology), MSc (bioinformatics) and PGDCA gathered at the AIMIT auditorium on Wednesday November 3 for the function organized by the department to felicitate all those students who brought laurels to the Institutions by wining championship trophies and other awards in various Intercollegiate fests conducted by Institutions in South India.

AIMIT students of IT won the prestigious overall championship in ‘Shells 2010’, the national level MCA fest conducted by Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore wherein 18 colleges participated. The students had to compete with some of the leading MCA colleges like R V College, Christ University, Surana College, T John’s College, NITTE and Dayanand Sagar College. The students of AIMIT, St Aloysius College won ten out of twelve prizes in the fest, and got the championship defeating the participating colleges.

The AIMIT team also won the championship in the ‘Gateways’, the fest conducted by Christ University, Bangalore in September, and also emerged winners of paper presentation progamme conducted by Mount Carmel College.

The award- giving programme began with a prayer song led by Cedric and his team. Benson Paul, student of MS (Software Technology) welcomed the gathering and the dignitaries on the dais. Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director, released the “AIMIT News For You”, the newsletters which documents various the activities conducted by the students of IT section of AIMIT.

Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, in his felicitation speech congratulated all the students who won prizes and trophies in various fests. He said true education happens when students involve in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

He pointed out that by participating and competing in various events and fests students improve their skills. He encouraged the students to take part in many events in future. He also told them that they should grab as many opportunities when they come across and thus become competent persons.

Fr Lobo thanked professor Santhosh Rebello, dean, IT section of AIMIT, for his leadership, and for organizing various activities in the department. He appreciated the team work which is going on in the department in conducting a lot of developmental programmes, like LAMP technologies, Campus Connect, On-line aptitude tests and so on. He congratulated students for coming out with the first issue of the IT campus news, and thanked professor Jacob for enthusing students to come out with the newsletter.

He also appreciated the efforts by students to collect money, clothes and other items to help ‘Seon Ashram’ in Ujire. He lauded the group of MS (software technologies) students who have given a facelift to the AIMIT website.

Professor Santhosh Rebello in his speech thanked all the faculty members and the students for their concerted effort to excel. He also appreciated their efforts and team work and wished them all the best. The programme concluded with the college anthem.

    Its nice to see the students being felicitated. But AIMIT should see that the students get a valid degree. MBA students are waiting for the last 2 years for their convocation.

    It is a matter of delight for us Aloysians to see the progress made by Our Alma Mater over the years. The Beeri Project a BRAIN CHILD of Father Denzil is indeed making waves in every direction. I join several others and Father Denzil in congratulating the the awardees on their performance. May they do well and bring further laurels to Our Alma Mater.

    Familiar faces, familiar places as well as familiar pictures in the background makes AIMIT more prominent and more familiar than ever before. The young men and women gather so much of knowledge thru their hard work. May God bless each one of them with a good prospect so that their future may be successful and rewarding for each of them.
