Fuel price rise continues unabated, sixth consecutive day of increase

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS): Petrol and diesel prices increased again on Monday, the sixth consecutive day of increase, as global oil prices failed to relent and continued to remain firm.

Accordingly, the pump price of petrol in Delhi increased by 35 paise per litre to jump to Rs 109.69 a litre while diesel prices also increased by the same margin to reach Rs 98.42 a litre, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers.

In the financial capital Mumbai, petrol prices have now risen to Rs 115.50 per litre while diesel to Rs 106.63 a litre, the highest among all metros.

Across the country as well petrol and diesel prices increased between 35-40 paise per litre, but their retail rates varied depending on the level of local taxes on petroleum products.

The fuel prices have now increased six consecutive days by 35 paise per litre. Before this after holding for a couple of days, fuel prices again had risen on previous five days by about 35 paise per litre.

Diesel prices have now increased on 30 out of the last 38 days taking up its retail price by Rs 9.90 per litre in Delhi.

With diesel prices rising sharply, the fuel is now available at over Rs 100 a litre in several parts of the country. It is very close to breaching the mark even in Delhi where it had rapidly climbed to Rs 98.42 a litre on Monday.

Petrol prices had maintained stability since September 5, but oil companies finally raised the pump prices last week and this week given a spurt in the product prices lately. Petrol prices have also risen on 27 of the previous 34 days taking up the pump price by Rs 8.50 per litre.

Crude price has been on a surge, rising over three year high level of over $ 85 a barrel now as global demand remains firm while OPEC+ continues to move slowly on increasing production. It has fallen a bit to around $84 a barrel after China released some oil from its reserve to address supply concerns.

Since September 5, when both petrol and diesel prices were revised, the price of petrol and diesel in the international market is higher by around $9-10 per barrel as compared to average prices during August.

Can the Government of the day in Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore provide explanation for opposing petrol and diesel inclusion under GST? Can DKS, HDK and Siddu promise bringing fuel under GST? I will vote for them, if they do. Truth is government of the day, wants money and does not want to let go the day light robbery with high taxes. Oil price increase means higher tax revenue for state Government also.

Just before elections reduce prices by say Rs 2 / ..for fuel and godi media Etc will be crowing like Early morning roosters ...great achievement.. govt. bonanza .. so on so forth .. When many ofvtgevpublic have paid for vaccines govt claims blatantly we have given 1 billion free vaccines .. Daily Commodities also gone up ..cooking oil .. others .. Yes....true. Whatever Modiji does, he does for the betterment of our country. He is uplifting our economy which is damaged due to pandemic. Ganji chutney is the best food health wise, economical, less expenditure, saves gas and so many household expenses. Instead of preparing three times food, good to eat only one good food any one time during the day. It shapes the body and keeps a person fit. No need daily gym, walking, push ups, pull ups and burn the calories which derive from eating tamasik and rajasik foods....Thats why people dont protest....now hope, some understood why i wrote about protest....

@ Roshan - "Modiji has ensured people to eat less and stay in shape by raising the LPG prices. Modiji is the only PM who cares " What a silly comments man ? Most of the low income people do not have or cannot afford three times meals and those who eat beyond capacity and building pot belly are rich and living a luxurious life. If weight increases do some regular exercise also eat some healthy food. No necessarily to stuff one stomach as if no tomorrow. Modiji is maintaining his physic he is not underweight.

A certain population of people dont care about it. All they care about putting minorities in their place. Yesterday, just because virat kohli gave his support to shami over the abuses he got bcoz of his religion, there were so many right wing trollers who wished kohli fails and India loses the match. So their live is not for the country. Their allegiance is only towards a party. Party is greater to them than the country. No matter how much educated these people are, their mond is filled with gobar.

Sorry for your situation, People who are earning well aren't able to pay this dramatically increased price all over India. We can understand what you are going through. Voters will forget what was their past difficulty during last 5 years term and elect a leader through religious sentiments. No doubt they will be brain washed for it, but ultimately it is you who will have to look after your own family members_not others. We as citizens of India will have to pay for the mistakes of Majority (Voters). Not to forget, Cost of living has just skyrocketed after 2014. Let any party come to power but not in this way.
