Udupi, Nov 1: Minister for energy Sunil Kumar said that BJP is going to win both the by-election of Hangal and Sindagi, the results of which will be announced on Tuesday November 2.
Speaking on the subject he said, “The results will be pro-BJP. I have myself worked in the campaign. Workers of the party have done a good job. In both constituencies voters have shown faith in BJP. The result will be a big disappointment for Congress. D K Shivakumar has accepted defeat as soon as the elections were declared. Shivakumar also said that these by- elections are not indication of next legislative assembly elections. The results of these bye elections will be an indicator for all the forthcoming elections of zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat and legislative council elections.”
Replying to query on disappointment among the artistes of music field on not giving Rajyotsava award, Sunil said, “I accept that justice could not be done to all. We have selected 66 people within the limited number of awards. I can tell with confidence I did not succumb to any pressure. This year the award has searched the awardees. It is difficult to select all at once. In the coming year, we will identify better achievers. I feel there should be minor changes to the rules of selecting the awardees. I will get the changes done after consulting chief minister.”
Sunil further said, “Kanndigas should get priority in industries that are functioning in Karnataka. Our government will surely abide by this. The government urges that the Kannadigas should get specific reservation. We will make necessary changed after overcoming the legal obstacles. Government will takes steps to provide more employment for Kannadigas.”
“Similar rules throughout all districts will be brought while celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava in districts. Now only certain districts are giving Rajyotsava awards. At the state level we will give the number of awards based on the year of anniversary. We are very clear on Nadageethe. We had formed a committee to compose music and also decide the time factor. This committee has submitted its recommendation to the government. Within one or two days the final form of Nadageethe will be announced,” said the minister.
Reacting to the Black day celebration by CFI opposing NEP that it is detrimental to Kannada language, Sunil said, “Only those who are semi-literate say these kind of words. General students will get priority. Our language is given special priority. Only those who have half knowledge give various definitions. Priority will be given to education of financially poor people.”
Speaking on the untimely death of Sandalwood star Puneet Rajkumar, Sunil said, “The demise of Puneet is a huge loss to the state. The government has taken all precautions and conducted his last rites. All are asking the he should be awarded Rajyotsava award posthumously. By according to rule and court there is no chance for giving such an award. We will consider his service in coming days. The government will decide how to honour him. It is not possible to take any decisions in haste. After Deepavali, we will hold meeting and decide on the way to honour him."
