Mangalore: Myriad Diyas Light up Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedasharm to Mark Deepavali

Mangalore, Nov 6: It was indeed a true Deepavali celebration at the Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedashram in the outskirts of the city at Vamanjoor. The entire premises was traditionally attired with amazing diyas, gold, silver, brass, bronze, clay et all.

The festive occasion was inaugurated in a meaningful manner by senior citizen Nagaratna Shetty on Friday November 5, symbolizing the prominence of elders' blessings in life. Sreelatha Shetty, medical director of the ayurvedic centre said that the traditional diyas such as Subrahmanya deepa, Trivali deepa, Ambari deepa, Kombu deepa, Gaja deepa, decorative ones such as Bonsai Madade among others used on the occasion has been sourced from the city, places in state such as Karnataka as well as other states namelyRajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

The centre also observed traditional abhyanga snana with people being applied lepa to ward off the diseases before the traditional bathing at the centre. Saptaparna tree also adorned the centre that represented Baleendra, the ancient king's whose visit to the region is celebrated every year as Deepavali by Tuluvas.

Deepavali in the centre was celebrated in an ayurveda way in the every sense. On the occasion, the Kannada poems and sanskrit verses describing Deepavali by Shreelatha Shetty were displayed at the centre. People at the centre were offered avalakki, lepa and payasam, the traditional food of the occasion.

Symbolizing the high spirit and joy of the festival crackers were burst.
