Mangalore: Police Arrest Fraudster ‘Rental Broker’ Sharief in Chikmagalur

Daijiworld Media Network—Mangalore (PS/CN)

Mangalore, Nov 6: Ibrahim Sharief, wanted for defrauding people in the guise of a rental property broker, was arrested by the Pandeshwar police on Saturday November 6.

A resident of ‘Harmony’ apartments in Attavar, Sharief had been absconding since October 5 after allegedly collecting lacs of rupees from people seeking to rent houses in the city.

Sharief was arrested in Mudigere of Chikmagalur district. However, the whereabouts of his family members are unknown yet.

As many as 38 people had claimed to have been deceived by Sharief and had pleaded to authorities to locate him at the earliest.

Sharief is said to have taken huge amounts of money as deposits from every family looking for rental houses, promising them to find them suitable residences and pay their rent too for a few months.

Believing that the arrangement was a good deal, many families had paid Sharief upfront. He, however, absconded with the money.

    Hi guys…

    Nasmaskara, Good Morning and Salam

Reading the comments from bottom to top and the comments on the previous news of absconding….. reminds me of a story heard long ago. It goes like this:
Once an old man’s beard got fire accidentally and he was panicky, running hither thither searching for water to put off the fire. Same time, a man was following the old man to light his beedi from the beard-fire…People effected in the scam are agony-bound while we readers are trying to show our vocabulary of the language or affiliation to one or the other political party or religion.

Of course, we are free to give our opinion in this democratic system of India and probably so in this column. Ponder over whether this column is for opinion or for suggestions….what is the purpose of the website owner?

Some body commenting on faith of the cheater while other on political party…This goes to show the mental health of our so called wise people of Dakshina Kannadigas.

Dear brother and sisters, cheaters have no faith/religion which is known to the men cheating is their religion and money is their God. Black sheeps are there in every community – so don’t blame any one community probably you may be at the receiving end the next day.

Regarding political assertions, even Congress, BJP and JD leaders have not quarreled that much during the recent act of showing strength in the assembly and the subsequent developments. Even the party MLAs, elected with great difficulty, come out of the party for one or the other reasons. There is a cause for their quarrelling – hotte padigagi! But why do you do that? Be frank, would you have exchanged such views that are penned down in this column, if you were face to face? Definitely no, because you will be looking at each other. Now think that God is witnessing your acts and then fill such views column, probably your views would be constructive and useful.

Instead, please step into the shoes of the effected people and understand their agony and try to help them. If you can try to locate the culprit from your sources, please do that and help the administration. Or give some viable suggestions by which aggrieved people can be helped. Good suggestions may come out in this process. Like, suggesting the government (Police and Administration authorities) to ensure that the landlords do not evict the tenants and the govt may provide funds to the owners for a short period till the culprit is caught and money recovered from him…

For heavens sake don’t comment on my comments please.

Karnataka Police under the leadership Mr. Shankar Bidari are doing a good job. Since last few months so many culprits have been nabbed. Hats-off to Karnataka Police force. All this is possible bcz all MLAs are busy in trying to get a berth in ministry, no time to poke their nose in police work.

State Prisoners in the U.S. are
put into public works like cutting
the glass on the highway and
picking up trash. They are being
watched by a police officer with
    a lang range gun.

    These criminals have not committed
    any violent crime, but robberies,
    theft etc.

In India, we need to adopt that
    kind of punishement for the
    white collar criminals, robbers
    etc.

Our streets in India are filled with dirt and trash. When the
    career criminals are working to
clean up the cities with a
robe at the back and front
    "I robbed the bank" " I stole
from the public", then it will
give a warning signal to the
would be criminals to think twice
before jumping into a career of
    crime.

The money has to be recovered & distributed among the people who lost their lifetime savings. They must get a shelter as soon as possible,as they are already threatened by the owners of the flat as to vacate or settle the dues. The culprit must be in Jail for years & should be treated such that everyone trying to cheat the public must get a lesson for life. Thanks to the police who put their best effort in finding him so fast, hope this is the same incident which was earlier brought to light by Daiji back about a month or more .Thanks Daiji for the timely publish of the same ,causing the authority to action immediately,it showed how well the things can move with the proper support of media.Media should be impartial & put their best efforts in serving the society by timely action.
