Mangaluru, Nov 3: Former minister Ramanath Rai took to task the union and state BJP governments for high inflation and moral policing.

Addressing media here on Wednesday November 3, he said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to reduce the petrol price within 100 days of assuming power. Now it is seven years and the price is still raising every day. Leaders of BJP say that there is no inflation in the country and it is just opposition propaganda.

“In order to hide the failures of the government, they divide the society on religious grounds. They indulge in moral policing in the district. They keep only emotional issues in front of the public. The people of Karnataka and India are going to give them fitting answers in coming elections.

“The rising price of commodities is a real issue. People are finding it difficult even to celebrate Diwali festival. The government says that due to coronavirus pandemic the price of fuel has gone up. Sri Lanka is giving petrol to its citizens at Rs 60 per litre. Is there no corona in Sri Lanka?

“Poverty and unemployment is at its peak in the country. Only the rich Indians are becoming richer. Poor people are going below the poverty line. Modi ordered demonetisation with the promise that he will bring back the black money that is stored overseas. But black money is still not arrived. People are frustrated with the rising price of commodities,” he said.

On bypoll victory, Rai said, “In Hangal, Congress won in spite of the money power used by BJP. They distributed money to each house in envelopes. But the Congress has won the hearts and minds of people of Hangal. BJP have eaten up state treasury and Modi says ‘Na Kaoonga Na Kaane Doonga’. Now they themselves have distributed money to voters.

“People have come to know the utter failure of both the union and state BJP governments. They teased Congress and said that they will make India ‘Congress-free’. People of this country will decide who will be ‘free’ from the country,” he said.

Readers, i wish to extend my sincere greetings on the auspicious day of Deepavali !!! The netas in the Congress must realise that delivering monotonous sound bytes, will not rejuvenate the ailing party, rather they should collectively discard rotten garbage, so that new plants will germinate, giving way to new life, new goals, in the grand old party !!!

This party has not only lost the PLOT but the entire ESTATE! Like someone opined here, winning a by -election now seems to be scaling the Mt. Everest equivalent ! What pathetic days... pathetic press conferences !!These days Twitter, PCs won't work ! Meaningless, time pass kadles. What you actually do where you are in power, intent carries weight ! See Hanagal Mane's victory as an eye opener. Learn from it. At least pull your socks now and be a meaning ful opposition. Still indulging in ಪಿಲಿ ನಲಿಕೆ wont help much.

Are there any takers for such mickey mouse press conferences ?? Come to roads and follow the exact model how BJP did before 2014. You need to fight BJP rather than sitting inside the room and doing time pass conferences.

Mr. Rai,,, The current generation voters are unable to comprehend what you say. To this day the answer to the question 'Why they should vote for you?' is missing. They are confused! You have never told us, how different you are from the BJP and what changes you would bring. All we hear is 'Modi that , Modi this, BJP that, RSS this!'. To me it looks like you are indirectly praising BJP. We are tired of this xhit. So is it 'over to Mithun Rai for the next press conference' ????

Your 2013 election thunderous promise of(1) arresting Kalladka Bhata in 2 weeks and (2). FBI investigation for Kabirs death, both yet to be fulfilled . Clarify that first and then lets talk about BJP. Set your house in order first. These statements coming from rejected leaders wont win peoples hearts. Singing too wont help.

Winning a bypoll does not mean that a national election victory is around the corner. Its a long long way ahead. Safegaurd or try to win back your constituencies first. Move or and let some younger more hungrier candidate take over. Meanwhile, regional parties have grown stronger destroying the prospects of Congress. These 'once in a blue moon' press conference for Modi bashing wont revive the party. Other opposition parties have already started rigorous ground work.
