Kuwait: KVWA Spreads Joy with Children's Day Celebrations

Kuwait, Nov 6: Kundapur Varado Welfare Association Kuwait (KVWA) celebrated Children's Day on Friday November 5 at Salmiya Co-operative marriage hall, Salmiya.

The programme commenced at noon with light music provided by DJ Spinners. Mervin, the compere of the programme gave a brief introduction and explained that KVWA came into existence with the motto 'united we stand, united we serve,' with the main purpose of supporting the education needs of children back in India.

Leena Rodrigues led the opening prayer invoking blessings from the almighty. President Nancy Menezes along with Roshan Olivera, Leena Rodrigues and Nelson Olivera were welcomed to the stage for lighting of the lamp. Chief guest of the programme Charles D’Sa, programme sponsor Archie Menezes, Juzar Ai and Fr John Harry D’Souza were honoured with bouquets. Charles D’Sa and Fr John Harry spoke a few words during the occasion.

Merit students of 10th and 12th standards were honored by Fr John Harry D’Souza. Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010 winners Warren D’Souza and Gladys Lorena were honoured by president of KVWA Nancy Menezes. Warren D’Souza and Gladys Lorena with a Konkani song and Desi Strikers and Ballerines with their foot-tapping dances entertained the audience. 

Games were held for children as well as adults. Prizes galore were distributed in the form of spot prizes, raffle draw and for housie-housie. Veena led the grace before meals. The vote of thanks was proposed by vice-president Donny.
