Sullia: Scrap merchant killed as wall of defunct factory collapses

Sullia, Nov 5: A man died after a wall collapsed on him when he was removing iron and other items from an old building of Malnad Casnhew Factory here on Friday November 5.

The victim was Abdul Khader (48). He was a scrap merchant based in the town.

Malnad Cashew Factory had ceased to function many years back. The work of clearing the old building was taken up recently.

Abdul Khader had arrived there with some workers on Friday morning. When the iron truss that was placed above the wall was being pulled down with the help of a rope, the wall unexpectedly collapsed on Abdul Khader, killing him instantly.

Sullia police visited the spot and conducted inquiry. The body was sent to the government hospital here for postmortem.

Khader leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
