Mysuru, Nov 7: Former minister and current legislator of JD(S) G T Devegowda has given shock to his party bosses. According to reports in a section of the media, he is almost certain to join the Congress. As a first step he is going to share the dais with former chief minister and leader of opposition Siddaramaiah on November 9.
Siddaramaiah is giving a grand entry to Chamundeshwari constituency. A few days ago former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy held a huge convention in Chamundeshwari. It is said that the huge convention planned on November 9 by Siddaramaiah is in retaliation to that held by Kumaraswamy.
G T Devegowda and Siddaramaiah will share the dais at the inauguration programme that will take place at Ambedkar Bhavan at Hinakal. Later they will meet at the inauguration ceremony of Kenchappa community hall at Kergalli.
In the last assembly elections Siddaramaiah had given up his constituency of Varuna to his son Yathindra and contested election from Chamundeshwari. G T Devegowda was in the fray from JD(S) in the same election. Devegowda had defeated Siddaramaiah with a slight margin. However, Siddaramaiah had won the Badami constituency.
After his defeat in the last assembly elections in the constituency of Chamundeshwari, Siddaramaiah had repeatedly said that the voters of Chamundeshwari ditched him whereas people of Badami voted for him.
After the collapse of the coalition government, G T Devegowda is maintaining distance from the top brasses of JD(S). He is not attending the programmes of the party also. Recently, a photo of G T Devegowda’s son appeared in one of the banners of Congress party.
Siddaramaiah had confirmed in October that G T Devegowda holding talks with him. He also said that G T Devegowda has asked for the next assembly election ticket for himself and his son from the Congress party. Siddaramaiah also confirmed that Devegowda has spoken to D K Shivakumar in this regard and in turn the Congress leaders said that they will speak to Randeep Surjewala, incharge of Congress for Karnataka.
G T Devegowda, who is maintaining distance from his party supremos, is venting his anger against them as and when he gets opportunity. He also accused that during the portfolio allotment he was deliberately given higher education. On the other hand, senior leaders of JD(S) had also taunted G T Devegowda without taking his name directly. G T Devegowda had also declared retirement from political retirement from contesting elections on August 4, 2019 saying that he has been in politics since 50 years and it is not possible for him to continue as he has suffered a lot.
