Mangaluru, Nov 9: The district administration felicitated Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba here at deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday November 9.
Harekala Hajabba, received the 'Padma Shri' civilian honour from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, on November 8 at New Delhi and he received rousing welcome at Mangaluru International airport.
Deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said, “It is proud moment for all of us with Harekala Hajabba receiving the Padma Shri. Hajabba has put forth a demand of starting a PU college. As per his demand, a proposal will be sent to the government soon.”
Harekala Hajabba said, “I am overwhelmed with the hospitality I have received. I cannot express the overall experience during the award ceremony. They have recognized a poor man from a village. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and everyone who supported me. This award is a treasure to me.”
