Hassan, Nov 9: The work of opening the Hundis and accounting for cash and other items placed into the donation boxes by the devotees in respect of Hasanamba temple has been taken up now. Many devotees have written down their wishes in plain papers and placed them into the donation boxes hoping that the Goddess will listen to their grievances and grant their wishes. A large number of such chits have been found in the boxes.
Photographs of some strange demand lists are becoming viral. In most of the slips, people have asked the Goddess to alleviate their pains, sorrows and problems. There are also demands seeking to remove the local legislators.
The doors of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple were closed at 1.05 pm on November 6. The doors of the temple had been opened for the public from October 28 to November 6. Out of these nine days, devotees were allowed to have the darshan of the deity on seven days. Lacs of devotees visited the temple during this period. It is hoped that the donation this time might be quite high as compared to last year considering the number of devotees, improved situation, and special tickets sold which were priced at Rs 1,000 and 300 and also expecting more offerings into the donation boxes.
One of the devotees has sought to replace the Holenkarasipur MLA as H D Revanna and his family members have been harassing the people. He has requested the Goddess to defeat all members of his family as they do not allow others to come up in life.
Another has sought marriage for his elder son. He also wants 90 percent marks for son in the SSLC exam. There is another who has offered to place Rs 301 in the donation box if his house is completed within a year. Another has requested to drive away coronavirus. One more from Hassan 35th ward wants the potholes in his street to be repaired.
One particular person has offered to place Rs 5,000 in the donation box if he is given early promotion, if his two daughters are married in a year, and to grant him a baby boy. A lady wants the Goddess to drive away her husband's liquor addiction while a girl in a letter written by using her blood, has sought the boon of marriage with her lover. There is also a demand to make Dr H Ll Mallesh Gowda as president of district Kannada Sahitya Parishad.
The temple door was closed in the presence of district in-charge minister Gopalaiah, MLA Preetham Gowda and other officials. Before closing the door, a lamp in front of the goddess was lit and flower and food offerings were placed. Till the temple door is opened a year later, the flowers will not wilt, light will not get extinguished, and food will not spoil.
