Mangaluru, Nov 10: MLA Y Bharath Shetty, instructed the officials to conduct detailed verification before giving permission for creating layout or other construction work. He told them not to allow layout or other construction by using buffer zones or by encroaching government land.
He was speaking after taking part in the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) held at the MUDA office on Tuesday November 9.
"In the past, illegal buildings had come up by encroaching main drainage canals. They have been giving rise to artificial floods. The citizens used to face a lot of problems from them. But henceforth such things should not be allowed to happen," he asserted.
The officials were told about the MUDA meeting's decision to undertake drive at places wherever complaints of violations have been received from the citizens.
MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath, informed that MUDA has prepared to plan to develop many major ponds located within the city south assembly constituency and that development works are already in progress in respect of some of the ponds and that work is in progress. He also said that there are plans to create parks and develop the existing ones by MUDA and for this purpose, specific spots will be identified for the development of parks.
