The 6th ‘Pingara Rajyostava Award -2010’ instituted by Kannada weekly magazine Pingara was conferred on Mandd Sobhann for its contribution to the Konkani community at a sparkling programme organized at Town Hall here on Tuesday November 9 at 6 pm.
 
The award was presented to Louis Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann. The award presentation, recitation and felicitation took place amidst the blow of ‘Kahale’ a traditional musical instrument, which added a traditional touch to the programme.

Louis Pinto, after receiving the award, said that the award has truly boosted Mannd Sobhann's morale to engage itself in more activities. He also said that the award has stimulated the spirit of Konkani people and added more responsibilities on Mandd Sobhann's shoulders.
 
Dr L H Manjunath, executive director, Sri Dharmastala Gramabhivriddhi Yojana who was the chief guest at the award function said that Mandd Sobhann is a model social and cultural organization as it has worked for the preservation and promotion of Konkani language and culture.
 
Bestowing his blessings on the programme, Kemaru Esha Vittaladasa Swamiji of Sandeepani Sadhanashrama appreciated Mandd Sobhann for organising world-class events and said that it truly deserved the award.

President of Alva’s Education Trust Dr Mohan Alva, Moodbidri MLA Abhayachandra Jain and Jyothika Jain, owner of Devika Sarees were the guests of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Alva said that cultural events organized by Mandd Sobhann have been benchmarks in the history of Konkani. He lauded Mannd Sobhann for recognizing talents in various fields.
 
Sudheer P Ghate, president of Magnum Interegraphix presided over the programme. Mandd Sobhann gurkaar Eric Ozario was present.
 
Anitha Samson and group entertained the audience with old Kannada songs.
