Kannur, Nov 10: Wilma Serrao, a student from the department of Mass Communication and Media Studies (MCME), St Aloysius College (SAC) won the ‘Best Television News Presenter’ competition organized by the department of Communication and Journalism, Don Bosco Arts and Science College, Iritty, Kannur, here recently.

The competition was organized on the eve of Don Bosco International Silver screen Carnival, a film festival for the students.

Wilma managed to beat 7 other contestants – media students from all over South India in the competition. On the spot news script was presented to Wilma, prepared for 15 minutes bulletin and in between flash news was given. She also had to interview her correspondent on the issue of Commonwealth Games.

The Award has not only strengthened Wilma’s self confidence, but has also motivated others to work towards excelling in their TV news skills and talents.  It was her previous television news anchoring experiences in college which motivated her to perform well in the competition.
