Bengaluru, Nov 17: In a sharp reaction to twitter comments by some BJP leaders against groupism and factions within the Congress, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chief D K Shivakumar on Wednesday alleged that ``BJP leaders as mental cases’’ and asked the ruling party not to meddle in Congress affairs.
Talking to media representatives near his residence in Sadashivanagar, he said the tweets by BJP leaders about the existence of factions within Congress do not warrant a reply. “Let the BJP first sort out its internal rifts and talk about opposition parties,’’ he curtly remarked.
Shivakumar explained that there was no need to attribute any motives to Congress opposition leader Siddaramaiah ending his speech at the function for the installation of KPCC Minority Cell president at the party office on Tuesday as he wanted to attend the Puneeth Namana programme at 3 pm, about which he had mentioned in the beginning.
“If the BJP leaders attribute motives to Siddaramaiah’s brief speech at our party function, I can’t answer them. I can only respond if the Chief Minister makes any comments,’’ he said.
The KPCC Chief pointed out that he had every right to keep things under control and even restrain party workers if necessary. “I treat everybody with respect and sometimes deal with both seniors and juniors. All partymen are part of Congress family and I deal with them with love, respect and even sternly. That is my nature,’’ he clarified.
Responding to a question on the absence of Zameer Ahmed Khan at Tuesday’s function, Shivakumar said he has gone to Delhi on his work and he has his own followers. It is not correct impute motives to his absence, he said.
