Mangalorean Lad Rahul Represent State in Ranji Cricket

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VA)

Mangalore, Nov 12: Finally after 17 long years Mangalorean cricket buffs have a reason to smile. K L Rahul hailing from Suratkal here has managed to find a place in the state Ranji Cricket Team.

Rahul has been chosen for the Ranji tournament in Mohali to represent Karnataka against the Punjab team.

Players from Dakshina Kannada had played for the Ranji team way back in 1993-94. Shyamachandra Bhat was the one who had represented the state in Ranji then. Prior to that Sanath Kumar, P V Shashikanth, Raghuram Bhat and Jaswanth had represented the state team. After such a long duration, Rahul has given fresh hopes to the city by entering the prestigious Ranji team.

Incredible Cricketing Talent

Rahul’s cricketing talent primarily shaped up in Nehru Maidan in city. He started his rigorous practice at the ground right from the age of 11. He was trained under State Cricket Academy coach Jairaj Samuel and Devdas Nayak P who discovered his immense talent in the game and further developed it.

His extraordianary talent in the game of cricket is evident in his achievements. He never looked back once he started climbing the steps of his dream. He represented the country in the under-19 World Cup which took place in New Zealand in February. He has led the state team in several matches for the age group of 13, 15, 17, 19 and 22. He has the credit of scoring a double ton when he was in the under-13 team.

Rahul is the proud son of Suratkal NIT-K professor Dr K N Lokesh and Mangalore University College professor C Rajeshwari. He pursued his early education at NIT-K English Medium School and later completed his pre-university studies at St Aloysius College. Currently, he is doing his graduation in Bangalore.

Congrats and all the best to Rahul.

In the mean time, I wonder why people are so mad about this game of cricket. India is a crazy country inhabited by peculiar species!!! There are so many other games for which people are not bothered!!!

Before commenting about Rahul,I must tell you that comment from Mr.Satya about ex-test cricketer Raghuram Bhat gave me shock.I saw Bhat in Ranji match before.I think he could have even beaten Kumble's record had he got fair chances in test cricket. He played 2 tests against Pak & Windies respectively and got 4 wickets. He was rested due to shoulder pain,Maninder Singh came and took Bhat's place permanently.I can't forget Bhat's Hatrick against Bombay where he took 8 wkts in first and 5 in the 2nd innigs. He took more than 350 Ranji wickets and played only 2 tests ! Bhat may be unfair to others because he got unfair treatment from BCCI. Ok..coming to the main subject..long way to go..Rahul, pls play positive cricket.

Mr. Peter Brahmavar, I wanna to know what meant to say?, it is not early time of cricket/or dear, nawadays influence or recommends not works, Rahul achived place in Ranaji on his own talet, it not becouse of both of his parent are in government service. Every one aware, BCCI gave chance to Pathan brothers in national team, after all they are sons of common mouzan/imam from small town. This one is real truth, nawadays no more Mumbai//Chennai/Delhi lobby works. All the best to Rahul.

There are many Rahul's throughout the Dakshina Kannada, Udupi district. But they are not sons of any professor's or business man so coud'nt find any platform of recogniton or training. Same time every student cannot join MGM, St. Aloysious, or St Joseph Bangalore.Good luck to Rahul.

I am very pleased to know about Rahul's achievements especially because he hails from Suratkal. Like his other famous namesake from Karnataka, I would like to wish Rahul K.L. plenty of runs and all the luck which should take him to national recognition. Like pacer Vinay and others before him, Rahul should aim to represent the country. The World Cup in 2011 is a good incentive and am sure the ors will consider Rahul if he clicks in the big games.
I am a well wisher of all deserving sportsmen and would like to take this opportunity to wish Rahul everything he deserves to make it big in Indian cricket.
Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada should show Bangalore that they have cricketers who can do well and shine as long as they are recognised and given a chance to perform with the best.
Rahul, this is your greatest chance to score and shine. All the best.

Really great to be selected by the KSCA.looking at his batting style and even we had far better players than him from Mangalore. We have all mangalorean's ex-players who have never ed as ors so many players from mangalore.they ruined literally i say the life of mangalorean players. This boy may has talent ,but his background is so good that his parents have done pure and great ground work to push him to the U-19 Indian team.Once a player represents India u-19 automaticallly qualifies to represent KSCA.The great spinner from Mangalore who has created records in Bangalore Division was not ed by our own Raguram Bhat, bcoz he was against that boy(this has come in TV channels),mnagaloren cricket authorities never tried to argue his case in KSCA.Only money counts whether he is good player or bad player.Joshi is still playing just to accomodate other spinner from North karnataka. His name is N.T.Pinto.When Brijesh Patel asked about this bowler Raguram bhat told him he is throwing the bowl.Just bcoz Bhat was against this boy.Bhat is no.1 bribe taker in KSCA.Please do highlight about this spnner boy.And recently JP Shetty who is the best allrounder right now we have from mangalore and in Karnataka after scoring n taking wickets was not ed to KSCA.Highlights these boys.
