Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 21: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday November 21 reported 10 new infections while Udupi reported 5 new cases. No death was reported in either of the districts.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 22,06,022 samples have been tested so far, out of which 20,90,282 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,15,740, out of which 96 are currently active.

A total of 15 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,13,952.

The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,692, out of which five are non-Covid deaths. No death was reported on Sunday.

The positivity rate in the district stands at 0.19%.

Even though the cases are declining, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,07,74,870 as fine in 88,820 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 12,56,560 samples have been tested so far.

A total of five new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 76,825, out of which 51 are currently active.

Six patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 76,298.

All the five new patients are in home isolation.

Udupi city reported four of the five new cases, while Kundapur reported one.

Four out of the five new cases are symptomatic.

Coronavirus has claimed 476 lives in the district so far. No death was reported on Sunday.

So far, 9,20,124 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 5,43,768 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, and all have recovered.
