Mangalore, Nov 16: District-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar detailed presspersons regarding the arrangements made for the chief minister’s Bhagyalakshmi programme at Puttur, which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday November 17.
Around 11,987 women and 12,983 children are expected at the event and 232 KSRTC buses have been hired to bring them to the venue. A bus can accommodate 5 anganwadi workers, 50 beneficiaries, and 50 children, he said. Nikita, the first child from DK to benefit from the Bhagyalakshmi scheme, will also be brought to the venue, he said.
At the same time Palemar also directed deputy commissioner Subhod Yadav to carry out construction work of the pumpwell bus stand within next 6 months. He added that the district administration has already acquired 7 of the 17 acres of land intended for the purpose. The land is uneven and needs to be leveled.
As traffic violation cases are increasing in Mangalore, Palemar said that the traffic police have been instructed to implement camera technology to catch hold of traffic offenders. Admitting that the ongoing construction work is making it difficult for the police to control traffic offence, he said that strict action will be taken against offenders as soon as the road widening project completes.
Mangalore South MLA Yogish Bhat was also present.
