Udupi: CM Yeddyurappa Announces Development Plans for District

Udupi, Nov 17: Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was in the distict here on Wednesday November 17 to participate in a programme to distribute sarees and bonds under the Bhagyalaxmi scheme to beneficiaries.
The programme, along with a health checkup camp held under Bhagyalaxmi Yojana was held at Mahatma Gandhi sports ground, Ajjarkad.
On the occasion, Yeddyurappa said that the bond certificates will be distributed to 11.50 lac families in the state under the Yojana. Udupi is the twenty-first district in the state to implement the project, while other districts will be covered shortly, said CM Yeddyurappa.
Yeddyurappa emphasized that the distribution programme is a state programme and not undertaken by the BJP. Had the opposition parties who create uproar in the legislative assembly over equality and social justice implemented the Yojana 25 years ago, drastic changes would have taken place in the society. The opposition parties are neither interested in development nor do they take active role in the discussion on the issue in the assembly, he alleged.
The CM assured that sufficient funds will be allotted by the state administration for the progress of undivided Dakshina Kannada district in the remaining two-and-a-half-years of his term.
Yeddyurappa announced the allotment of Rs 4 crore for laying a synthetic track at the district stadium. The minor culverts in the district will be developed at a cost of Rs 8 – 10 crore. Solar lamps will be provided to the residents living in remote villages that have no access to electricity supply. A sum of Rs 25 crore will be released by Udupi town council for developing infrastructure, he informed.
MLC Raghupati Bhat presided over the programme.
