Mangaluru, Dec 1: The personnel of the cyber crime, economic offences and narcotics police station here have arrested David Rakesh D'Souza (36), a resident of Uliya Ranipura. He has been accused of creating a fake email ID and using that ID to level baseless allegations against the principal of his college and sending the mails to the medical college director.
David happens to be a lecturer of a medical college at Deralakatte here. He reportedly has been eyeing the post of the principal of the college. He created a fake email ID and sent emails to the college director, containing a series of allegations against the college principal including question paper leakage. Even though the college conducted an internal inquiry, the sender of the email could not be identified. As the mails had come from fake email ID, identifying the sender posed a huge problem. The sender of the emails however was behaving normally and no one had inkling about his involvement.
During September this year, the principal of the college complained to the CEN police station. The police, who used software, began an investigation and zeroed in on the accused. On being produced in the court on Tuesday November 30, the court remanded him to a day's judicial custody.
