Mangaluru, Dec 3: IndiGo Airlines has introduced another flight between the city and Mumbai from December 1 onward. This flight will operate till January end. Approval from the superiors is awaited for the newly proposed flight to Tirupati airport. There are also initiatives to introduce four flights to Bengaluru, two each to Mumbai and Hyderabad, and one to Chennai besides one more to Sharjah.
Even though Covid impact has become less, concerns about the pandemic continue. In the meanwhile, the international airport here reached a new milestone by crossing one thousand flights in the month of November this year.

In October, 987 flights, including international and indigenous, had been handled. They included 196 international flights. In October 2020, only 593 flights were operated.
In November, 1.25 lac passengers travelled via Mangaluru airport. In October, 25,458 persons undertook international travel while 81,583 undertook internal flights. As such, a total passenger traffic of 1,07,041 was achieved in that month. Compared to October 2020 when the total number of passengers stood at 53,599, this is quite an achievement.
The number of air passengers is increasing everyday and more passenger traffic is expected because of Christmas, New Year, and the operation of flights to Saudi Arabia. Sources said that there was a proposal to introduce flights to Hubballi but it has been delayed because of Covid.
Sources in SpiceJet, which is operating flights to Dubai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, said that it is thinking of starting another flight to Bengaluru shortly.
