Mangaluru, Nov 3: A 42-year-old auto driver died after suffering a heart attack while driving the vehicle on national highway 66 near Netravati bridge on Friday December 3.
The deceased is identified as Mohammed Hanif (42), a resident of the 8th cross in Katipalla.
The incident took place while Hanif was ferrying Khalid, a vegetable seller, who was his permanent customer for 11 years, from Surathkal to Global Market in Kallapu, Thokkottu. It is said that while reaching Mangaladevi cross, Hanif informed the passenger that his vision was getting blurred. Soon, the auto-rickshaw rammed into a barricade on the highway.

Locals, who gathered at the spot, cleared the traffic and helped the auto to move forward. But, when Hanif reached Netravati bridge, he fell down from the driver's seat.
Ambulance driver Akash Vijayan from Kannur Mettannur of team AET, who was behind the auto, rushed Hanif to the hospital. He was arrived dead at the hospital.
A case was registered in Mangaluru rural police station.
