Mangaluru: Demand for Covid vaccines rises amidst Omicron virus scare

Mangaluru, Dec 4: Demand for Covid vaccine is increasing in the district due to the onset of Omicron variant of Covid. People who were not showing any interest in taking vaccines even during the vaccine campaign are coming forward to take the vaccine by themselves.

The number of people who have received the vaccine in the second week of November is double that of the first week. In the third week it shot up to three times. In the last week of November it created a record by crossing one lac mark. In the month of November 2,81,795 people have taken vaccines in the district.

Nodal officer for vaccination Dr B V Rajesh said that ASHA workers, activists of Anganwadi, schools, colleges, rural development departments are creating awareness among the public.

Vaccination centres are functioning in Mangaluru City Corporation office, deputy commissioner’s office and malls. Around 100 PHCs are also administering vaccines.

    All hoax of new variants. It's Christmas time and they want people to take vaccine by any cost to make huge profits for the pharama companies. The government has no right to force any citizen to take vaccine. It's the fundamental right of the individual. People out of fear and not being allowed to go to malls are taking vaccines. Already an affidavit is filed in the Supreme Court. There are many cases of people getting side effects due to Covid vaccines and suffering and some have led to death. Stop playing with the lives of the people. It's a wake up call for all citizens.

    Serum institute of India (SII) has urged the government to fast-track Covishield movement citing the difficulties being faced in production and cold chain space planning for other vaccines because of the increasing stock of its COVID-19 jab, official sources said on Sunday. Prakash Kumar Singh, Director, Government and Regulatory Affairs at SII, is learnt to have recently communicated to the Union Health Ministry that it has a manufactured stock of 24,89,15,000 Covishield doses and it is increasing every day. In addition to the Covishield vaccine, the Pune-based firm also manufactures and supplies various life-saving vaccines to EPI, UNICEF and different countries, Singh is learnt to have told the ministry.

    so far as there was no demand it was given free in PHC as well as govt depts...now sudden artificial shortage will be created....agents will spiral...and the people in administration in charge of these activities will mint money...phir tamasha shuru..gullible public....................in fact the public does not know that the Covid vaccine will not help in combating the new variant.....lage raho unguta chapon...

    I meet average 30 plus malayalees a day, Most of people from perticular community from Malappuram not even took single dose vaccine. How State govt allowing them from Talapady border?

    Mangalorean, many bribe and get the rt pcr test negative report. I know, some have not taken the vaccination at all but they have the certificate which govt issues....with the photo of our prime minister. These are the fake certificate holders, cause for spreading the pandemic. This is seen among the educated and in villages also. So, tell me how people are negligent, crooked and cheating everyone.....Vurus mutates in those people and spread..... They are scared to take vaccine because of the side effects...but, those who approach these cheaters will get infected.....THEN, BLAME THE GOVT...WE HAVE TAKEN THE TWO DOSES....STILL, WE GOT INFECTED.....SERUM INSTITUTE IS BOGUS ETC ETC. Do you think all people, work in govt depts have taken vaccines ? Since they deal in organizing the jabs, they can enter their name and say vaccinated.     If so Rudy sir, whats the purpose of vaccination. Purpose is not to spread the infection in the society....Those who are not vaccinated, virus mutates isnt it ? Vaccinated people might get Rudy sir....but, severity is less....I feel, many holding in govt depts have not vaccinated but have certificates. I really get confused...Why they force only the poor citizens and govt officials not getting vaccinated?

    Cynthia DK,just listen,you were two times vaccinated still got infected.But you recovered from this infection.Thats the difference,because of your vaccination you had the anti bodies in your body.whereas people who were not vaccinated at all wouldnt survive.Suppose when one got the infection, and he realises or through test ,early can take precautions not to spread or get more sick have to be in isolation.When one realises too late got infected ,then he has no antibodies without vaccine ,lungs are not functioning ,other organs like kidney too is not functioning ,then bit too late or immediately in Intensive station.this doesnt take long within two or three days close the chapter.By us now already fourth welle .we have taken third dosis booster. infection is increasing.Now people are rushing to have vaccine.I read in news that one person died in flight ,noone knew ,he is dead as personal came to see it was over checking he was corona positive.Fake certificate?people travelled out and brought infection in land again.otherwise we had less infection.They enjoyed went to spain ,football stadion ,had fests illegally.Now we have the salat.One should always take care.
