Mangaluru, Dec 4: Urwa police arrested four people in connection with the murder attempt on Ankit Boloor. The cops have also confiscated three swords, three two-wheeler and one auto-rickshaw that were used in the act.
Navneet, resident of Ashoknagar in the city, Hemanth, resident of Hoigebail and Deekshith, resident of Boloor are the main accused who are arrested. Sandesh was arrested for helping the accused hide after the incident.
Accused Navneet Nayak (20) is accused in two earlier cases and second accused Hemanth has three cases filed on him. Deekshith also had one case filed on him.
According to the details Alake and Boloor gangs nurse grudge against each other from many years on the issue of tiger dance and factions. In 2014 Sanjay alias Varun, son of Talwar Jagga alias Janardhana of Boloor gang was murdered by Ashrith alias Ashu, Abhilash alias Abhi, Vikas alias Vikky, Kartik, Punit and Vijay of Alake gang. As revenge against this murder, Rithesh (23) of Alake gang was attacked with lethal weapons by Vikky Bappal, Raju Boloor, Avinash Boloor, Parapu Edapadavu Dikshith, Jayaprakash Boloor and Trishul Boloor in 2019. A case in this connection is registered in Urwa police station.
In 2020, Indrajit of Alake gang was hacked to death by Ullas Kanchan, Gautam, Rakesh alias Raki, Sharan alias Chanu, Kaushik, Ashique, Mokshith, Jagga alias Talwar Jagga. Out of these, Ullas Kanchan, Gautam, Rakesh alias Raki, Sharan alias Chanu, Kaushik, Ashique and Mokshith are still in prison.
In the wake of this enmity, on the midnight of November 27, Navaneet, Hemanth, Deekshith and others of Alake gang, who are friends of slain Indrajit, tried to murder Ankit Boloor, brother of Kaushik and Ashique, who are lodged in jail. Ankit escaped the attack but his friend Shravan received deep wound on his left neck from the sword that was used in the attack.
Urwa police have registered a case in this connection.
