Actress Shilpa Crowns Viram, Aditi as Mr and Ms Bunt - Feels Proud of Root

Mumbai, Nov 21: I am proud of being born in a Bunt community and the ties has only further strengthened with marriage to a Punjabi, Raj Kundra as my lifestyle is very Bunt, which I have carried along, said Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Bollywood actress.

She was speaking as a chief guest at the global bunts beauty contest, World Videocon Mr Bunt and Miss Bunt organized by the youth wing of Bunts Sangh, Mumbai as Akanksha - 2010 in association with association's magazine Buntaravani monthly. She said though she is fluent in Tulu, her mother tongue, she has no option but speak in English most of the times, which is of everyone's knowledge. It is my love for the community that brought me to the programme despite my illness. I will always be known by name surname, Shetty which makes me very proud, she stressed.

I am happy that such programmes help Bunt youth bring out their talent and beauty in a global level, she added. She also crowned and gave away prizes and mementos to Mr Bunt and Ms Bunt along with Bunt Sangh president Aikala Harish Shetty.

In the competition presented by Videocon Industries Ltd, Viram V Shetty Havanje and Aditi Shetty won the Mr Bunt and Ms Bunt title, respectively. Mr Bunt runners-up were Abhishek Shetty, Pune and Venkatesh Shetty Brahmavar (Bangalore), respectively, while Nishali Shetty and Ashrita Shetty were the Ms Bunt runners-up. In all 11 contestants had made it to the final rounds.

Aikala Harish Shetty presided. Bharat Shetty of Aditi International, Mudrady Divakar Shetty of Divyasagar Group, Prabhakar Punja and Manjunath Shetty of Parimala Hospitalities, J P Shetty of Western Mortem India Pvt Ltd, Sadanand Shetty of reliable Builders Pvt Ltd and Parvat Shetty of Savai Suites Hotel were the special invitees.

On the occasion, Shilpa's parents, Surendra Shetty and Sunanda Shetty were felicitated by Harish Shetty, youth wing working president Gautham S Shetty and Buntaravani working president Ratnakar Shetty.

Including Gautham and Ratnakar, women wing working president Asha M Hegde, judges Pooja Hegde, Shifali hegde, DayA Shetty, Mahesh Shetty, Madhushree Shetty, Sumeeth Shetty, choreographer, Rahul Shekar and fashion choreographer Sunil Abhishek were felicitated.

Bunt Sangh honorary working president V K Shetty introduced Shilpa Shetty's family. gautham Shetty welcomed the gathering. Sannidhi Harish Shetty Aikala, Vivek Shetty, Preeti Shetty, Ishaan Shetty and Vijay Shetty compered the programme.

Bunt Sangh vice-president Shanker B Shetty, honorary treasurer Prabhakar L Shetty, joint secretary Harish Vasu Shetty and Higher Education Committee working president Karnire Vishwanath Shetty among others were present.

    I am proud to be a bunt as wherever they go any part of the world they don forget their roots be it our customs,celebration of festivals or teaching our kids about our traditions.
