Kasargod, Dec 6: In an incident reported from Perladka within the limits of Bedadka police station in the district, a lady was beheaded by her husband. The incident came to light on Monday December 6 morning.
The victim of this incident was Usha (35), a resident of the residential quarters in Perlada downtown. The accused, Ashok, has been taken into custody by the personnel of Bekal police station. He is being interrogated.
After committing the murder, Ashok had locked his house and gone away. He was taken into custody from near the Kasargod railway station. It is suspected that the murder would have been committed in the wee hours today.
Ashok was following the austerities connected with Sabarimala pilgrimage. As he did not come to the Bhajana Mandir as usual today morning, his friends came near his house looking for him. They saw that the house was locked. They peeped through the window and found that Ashok's wife had been slain. The neighbours then alerted the police. The police who conducted the inquest took the mortal remains to Kasargod government hospital for post-mortem.
The police said that they are yet to find out the reason for this dastardly act. They however stated that as per the accounts of some neighbours, Ashok exhibited symptoms of being mentally unstable from sometime.
