Mangaluru, Dec 6: “In the district of Dakshina Kannada, murders have taken place due to hate towards religions. If there is FIR on a single Congress worker in relation to these kinds of murders, I will retire from politics. This has to be published in the media,” said former minister Ramanath Rai.
Speaking at a press conference in the city, Rai said, “We are becoming news only due to false propaganda. Home minister Araga Jnanendra has addressed police as dogs. If Congress says something it is termed as abuse. If BJP speaks it is said as taking the concerned officer to task. Jnanendra is unfit to continue in his post after insulting the police department. His statement shows the failure of the administrative system and the government. When the government is helpless, they criticize the officers. The administrative system has completely collapsed."
Replying to a query of one of the scribes, Rai said, “If you show through proof that I have abused police, I will immediately retire from politics.
“Rs 3.5 crore grant is given to two schools through cheques. Now there is a demand to send it back to the government.
“High handedness and corruption is seen in the transfer of senior police officers and DCs of the state. PWD contractors themselves are saying that BJP MLAs are asking for 40% commission behind every project of state. The Home department has agreed that the law and order of the state is in a hopeless state. No work except the employment guarantee scheme of Congress is implemented at the Panchayat level,” he said.
