Udupi, Dec 7: Columnist, Chakravarti Sulibele, said that a never ending conspiracy aimed at disparaging the Maths, temples, saffron clothes, Sadhus, holy cows and Brahmins who happen to be the core identities of Hinduism, has been going on. By their incessant efforts, people following other faiths have been carrying out an offensive to attract the young generation towards them and thereby transform India in the long run, he explained.
He was delivering a special talk on the issue of 'Hindu identity' as part of the second day's 'Vishwarpanam' programme being organized by Srikrishna Math and Paryaya Admaru Math on Monday December 6. This programme is a part of the concluding celebrations of Paryaya period of Admaru Math. The talk was delivered at Sri Narahari Theertha dais of the Rajangan here.
"Hinduism is born out of pure science. All the others are sets of rules. There had been an attempt to attack Indian literature and to twist it. Attacks and raids are happening on temples that are at the core of Hindu religion. The main aim of all these attacks is to demolish the very identity of Hinduism and divert the next generation towards themselves," he stated. He also warned the Indians that even momentary diversion of concentration can cost them their country.
Sulibele explained that Dharma in itself is not equivalent term for religion. "Hinduism does not have anyone as the person who proclaimed and instituted that religion. We can live without religion but we can never exist without righteousness (Dharma). It has a very elaborate meaning," he said.
Sulibele criticized those who feel that Sanskrit is a dead language and that those who study it do so because they have nothing worthwhile to do. He said that India to remain secular, the Hindu identity has to remain the core strength of India. He said that saffron is at the hub of Hinduism and reminded that saffron, which represents sacrifice and renunciation, did not come into being after Buddha. "Saffron is the most revered thing, but for the last thousands of years, efforts are underway to disrespect it," he added.
He called upon the people to build a new nation by Hinduism at its base. He noted that many poor countries in the world did not have covid19 vaccine and India, which showed generosity, provided vaccine to these countries. He said that the practice among the Christians and Muslims is that one should convert into that religion before getting married. He pointed out that Hindus just want the marriages to be performed as per their traditions and customs. He said that people of other religions hope that the children born henceforth would have given up Hinduism. Sulibele warned that unless we make the next generation strong, the people will lose their religion and faith. He wished that the Hindus will stand strong with their individuality and give rise to a new country.
In his benedictory message, Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurpur Vajradehi Math noted that Hinduism comes in for criticism and verification repeatedly. He said this happens because of the people's lack of awareness of the need to protect the religion. He therefore advocated the need to create awareness about Hinduism among the people. He regretted that history books teach the students about Akbar, Prophet Muhammad etc whereas they do not teach about those who fought valiantly for the conservation of Hinduism. He insisted that the people have to be interested in their history and asked them to create and write history. He wanted a Hindu soldier to be born and brought up in every family. The Swamiji criticized music composer and lyricist Hamsalekha for the comments he made about the late Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.
Paryaya Admaru Math Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji who presided, delivered a benedictory address. Kateel temple hereditary trustee, Vasudeva Asranna, hereditary priest, V Venkataramana Asranna etc were present.
On this occasion, A Venkatesh who has been serving the Math, and rural postman, Pradeep Kumar, were felicitated. Paryaya Math manager, Govindraj, welcomed and delivered the introductory address. Scholar Kutpady Krishnaraj Bhat presented the programme.
As part of the cultural programme, Pt Purbayan Chatterjee Mumbai and V Ambi Subrahmanyan Bengaluru presented a fusion programme of sitar and violin.
