Mangaluru, Dec 8: With the city moving on fast track of development with Mangaluru Smart City, the city dwellers are also getting access to various facilities. As an extension of these things, shortly, the OneTouch Mangaluru (OTM) app under Smart City project has been developed and it will be made available for public use shortly.
The app will make it possible for the citizens to get information about the transport facilities, tourism, quality of air, water supply waste disposal and several other information and facilities. People will have integrated information about Mangaluru on their fingertips. The app has been developed as part of a scheme to provide smart services to the citizens.
OTM app will enable people to avail services of various departments including city corporation, RTO, city police, railway etc. For information of transport they have automatic vehicle locator system. Through GPS it finds the current location of the bus, speed, time of arrival etc. Relating to solid waste management issues, officials can get information about the waste delivery van. People can also register complaints if any through the app. The entire gamut of activities like door to door collection of waste, transfer of waste from small to big vehicles and its transportation to the garbage heap will be available. Disaster management, emergency contact, helpline contact, police, fire stations information, telephone numbers of hospitals etc will be available in OTM. Information of tourist spots, how to reach there etc, will also be available.
Tourists coming here can log in to the app and register themselves by creating email ID, mobile number, pass word etc. Once released, the app will be available on play store. General manager of Smart City, Arunprabha K S, said that the app is ready to be released, but its launch has been put on hold because of the existing election code of conduct. Once the same is cleared, the app will be released, he added.
