Jeddah, Dec 9: A delegation of the ministry of tourism took part in the UNWTO (UN World Tourism Organisation) general assembly in Spain.

Delegates from more than 100 countries shared their achievements over the past two years during the Covid situation throughout the world.

The Saudi delegation formed a new working group during the meeting to support the agency in its transparency and effectiveness in future and current work. The group will also assist in responding to the needs of member states to better the tourism industry.

“Despite its relatively recent presence in the international tourism arena, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays a major international role,” said Ahmed Al-Khateeb, minister for tourism of the kingdom.

The UNWTO regional office in Riyadh will serve as a hub for the agency to coordinate policy and initiatives for the countries in the region.
