Nothing Wrong in Lingayat Swamijis Supporting Yeddy, says Renukacharya

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Nov 23: ''What is wrong in swamijis of Lingayat Mutts supporting chief minister B S Yeddyurappa?" asked state excise minister M P Renukacharya.

The excise minister, who hit media limelight following his involvement with nurse Jayalakshmi as an MLA and had cast his lot with the dissident struggle against the chief minister by Bellary Reddy brothers and later changed his loyalty to Yeddyurappa after being elevated as a cabinet minister, felt the Lingayat or Veerashaiva community had every right to lend their support to Yeddyurappa as he is a prominent leader belonging to it.

There was nothing wrong in Lingayat Mutt swamijis supporting the continuance of Yeddyurappa as the chief minister since he had granted money to several Maths during the last 30 months, he said pointing out that the pontiffs represented the devotees belonging to the community and were expected to voice the sentiments of the faithful.

''I also belong to the Lingayat community. Why should I feel shy or hesitate to own my community," he said arguing that merely because of his affirming his Lingayat community affiliation did not make him a casteist.

Renukacharya said: ''I have been elected by people belonging to all communities in my Honnali constituency. Even though I belong to the Lingayat community, it does not make me a minister of or for Lingayats alone. I have never been casteist or communal in my approach."

It may be recalled that Renukacharya had led the recent revolt by 20 dissidents, including disgruntled BJP MLAs and the Independents, and had switched his loyalty to the chief minister at the last minute. In fact, he was part of the dissidents who had abstained from the first floor test sought by Yeddyurappa in the state assembly.

Renukacharya lashed out at former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy for releasing what he termed as "fake documents" against Yeddyurappa.

He alleged that JD(S) and Congress leaders have struck an "unholy alliance" to destabilise the government.

The JD(S), which has been attacking the BJP government in the state, had remained a silent spectator in parliament over 2G spectrum issue, the excise minister said.

These swamiji's for me look more like rogues then, swamiji. Even revered shivrathri swamiji proved he is a pukka casteist. We knew it before, but now they r openly supporting even the most corrupt rogues, just bcoz the person happens to b from their caste. Let them support. But the media shud not go ga ga over their so called contribution to the society like anna dasoha. It doesn't matter even if you don't do anna dasohas. But by supporting rogues swamijis have lost all the credibility, whatever they had. Now we can easily say that these swamiji's don social reformer's mask only to further their other agenda. Shivrathri swamiji says he feeds the poor and dalit. But will he have lunch with a dalit in a dalit's house? We know all these dramas. Now ppl will throw stones at these swamijis if they think they can intervene in judicial process also.

Yeddyurappa is guilty until he is proved innocent. He has lost credibility on all counts. He is justifying his wrong doing saying that even earlier governments have done it. This does not clear him of his charges. He has no no ethical or moral right to continue. In spite of all the above the swamijis supporting him is rediculous. Looks like they are responding based on Yeddy's monetary support to their mutts and temples in the recent past.

'What is wrong in swamijis of Lingayat Mutts supporting chief minister B S Yeddyurappa?" asked excise minister Renukacharya. What a stupid question & it is really unfortunate that religious leaders [Swaijis] are involved in politics. I think in near future only RSS, BJP, Rama Sena, Bagaranga Dal, & VHP people will be allowed in temple. Religious leaders must do the religious activities, not supporting the political parties. & if they want to do so then they should not serve in temple. Mr. Renu knows exactly what Yeddi and Reddi group did, to obtain the power. Let every citizen must know what Renu Did. Renu took some of the MLA’s & back stabbed them. Renu did such an ugly role in the politics it is really amazing. He blamed Reddi brothers & supported yeddi. After two days he said badly about yeddi & gain some support from disqualified MLA’s. He took them & played a dirty politics & all of them are out now. In all way he satisfied Yeddi, Reddi group, & he earned money from all side. Mean time he kicked out his non-supporters & who questioned & opposed in giving minister position to him. This is how BJP is ruling in Karnataka State. They will bring religious leaders in front of them when they need the protection & do all the evil things behind. The worst thing in Karnataka is the people are so dump they believe when a political leader appear with any religious leader. Karnataka State people must wake up & must know how to differentiate the religion faith & political issues.
