Mangaluru, Dec 11: Relating to the suicide-murder of four members of a single family about which the head of the family had alleged religious conversion engineered by the employer of his wife as the root cause in a voice message, city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, addressed a press conference here on Saturday December 11. A suo motu case was registered relating to these deaths in Pandeshwar police station here.
The police have taken accused Noor Jahan into custody relating to the case. She has been accused of abetting the suicides of Nagesh and his family members. Nagesh along with family was staying in an apartment complex in which one of the flats was occupied by Noor Jahan in the past. Later, Nagesh's family had shifted their residence elsewhere.

Sometime back, Vijayalakshmi, wife of Nagesh, had stayed with Noor Jahan in her flat. Noor Jahan reportedly had advised Vijayalakshmi to seek divorce from her husband. She had also promised to find a suitable Muslim husband for her. She also had pressured her to convert her children into Islam.
On this issue, Nagesh had a fight with his wife. Nagesh later murdered Vijayalakshmi and committed suicide. He also had smothered his children, Swapna (8) and Samarth (4) to death.
The police found a photograph of Vijayalakshmi in the residence of Noor Jahan. However, so far they have not got any evidence to prove that Vijayalakshmi had got converted into Islam. Noor Jahan works as a broker and had arranged for the services of an advocate for Vijayalakshmi to seek divorce.
On the derogatory comments on chief of defence staff Gen Bipin Rawat’s death, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, “No arrest has been made yet in derogatory comments on social media about Gen Bipin Rawat’s death and on national security advisor Ajith Doval.
“A case has been filed at Pandeshwar police station under section 505(1a), 505 (2) and 505 (b).
“We found that the comments were posted from three accounts. We will probe whether the accounts are fake or original and from where it has originated,” he said.
On a moral policing incident at State Bank on Friday December 10, he said, “Two persons were detained and a suo moto case was filed after a video went viral where a boy and girl of different communities were questioned at a private bus stand.
“The girl hails from Udupi and the boy from Shivamogga. We have contacted the boy and girl.
“Two are detained and we will ascertain their role. As many as 5 or 6 may be involved in the case,” he said.
On an assault case which took place at Neermarga, the police commissioner said, “Four persons have been detained over the attack on Abdul Riyaz at Neermarga Padpu. A case under 307 has been filed. The exact reason for the attack is not known. The victim ion the assault is out of danger.
“We have received the information about the accused. We found a pair of slippers and accessories belonging to women at the spot,” he said.
